It might fascinate you to know that despite the billions of bodies on this earth, there are three main body types. Endomorph, ectomorph and mesomorph is what we call these body types. They all have their own unique traits and all work differently than the others. A lot of people have traits from two body types so you don’t always have to be just an endomorph, ectomorph or mesomorph. Finding out what body type you are can aid extremely well in your weight loss (or gain) journey, so let’s get straight to it and find out what body type you are.
This is my body type.
Someone who has an endomorphic body is naturally bigger in size and has a tendency to store more fat than the other two body types. This does not mean that they are fat but they will have to put in more effort in order to maintain their weight. You can quickly tell if you’re an endomorph by looking at your hips in the mirror. They will usually be wider than your shoulders.
This body type needs to monitor what they eat in order not to gain weight. Their body quickly stores fat while losing weight goes very slow. They will have to do their best to eat as healthy as possible if weight loss is on the calendar. Even if they just want to maintain their weight they will need to make sure that their diet is decently healthy. Merely changing the diet to a healthy one will not cause this body type to lose a lot of weight.
If an endomorph wants to lose weight they should start with cardio. Make sure to adjust it to how well your body can handle it, if you can only do cardio for 5 minutes that’s fine. Work your way up there until your condition starts to become better. Once you’ve got your condition in order you’ll want to start weight training. There is no reason for you to force yourself to do heavy lifting. Start off with some light dumbells weighing 2kg and work your way up from there. An endomorph generally wants to stay moving in order to lose weight so you’ll have to do this a couple of times a week.
Some male examples of this body type are Robin Williams and Russel Crowe.
Female examples of this body type are Marilyn Monroe and Beyonce.
A mesomorph naturally has an athletic build and is quite slim. Gaining mass in muscle is very easy for this body type and losing weight hardly takes any effort. This doesn’t mean that they don’t have to worry about gaining weight. They can gain weight just as easily as they lose weight but because it’s so easy for them to lose weight it’s not really an issue for most mesomorphs.
It would be smart to keep your diet healthy in order to keep fit.
People with this body type would excel at sports which require a lot of strength. The best workout for this body type would be cardio. Once again, adjust your cardio to your own condition. A little bit of weightlifting would be good for this body alongside the cardio.
Some male examples of this body type are Arnold Schwarzenegger and George Clooney.
Female examples of this body type are Halle Berry and Madonna.
This is the body we usually see in fashion magazines. They have little body fat, long limbs and have very little muscle. This body type can eat whatever they want without gaining weight. Their metabolism is fast and efficient which often causes them to have difficulty gaining weight and muscle mass. Their body tends to not have much shape and is often referred to as the ‘ruler-shape‘.
Being an ectomorph doesn’t mean that you don’t have to put in any effort to look good. Ectomorphs still need to work out in order to gain muscle. They also need to adjust their eating pattern to include more things like nuts and starchy vegetables. It’s not easy for this body type to build muscle. If you are an ectomorph and are struggling to gain weight then you might want to ask the doctor to rule out any other issues like hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism also makes you unable to gain weight but has nothing to do with being an ectomorph.
Some male examples of this body type are Bruce Lee and Toby Maguire.
Female examples are Kate Moss and Cameron Diaz.
